I just read a thread re: electric water pump, that said they were really
just for racing. I have purchased Meziere but have not installed. My main objective
was to prevent coolant on OPTI. I'm going with MSN OPTI, should I go
ahead with water pump.
They work great and are simple to replace if you ever need to; just never heard of anybody that has ever needed to. My electric pump works better than the original. Keeps the car cool weather it's stopped at a light or going 80!
The hardest part is deciding weather or not to remove the drive shaft from the front cover or leave it to possibly continue to be an oil leak. To remove it you have to take the front cover off, remove the cam sprocket and unbolt the drive shaft & gear from behind the cam sprocket. Then you can plug up the hole in the front cover (Kennedy half dollar or a Mexican Peso fit well)
I installed mine about 6 years ago and it still runs so much better than the OEM pump. The pump is supposed to last at least 2500 hours, do the math it will last longer than the OEM pump. My advice, install it.
