Why me !!!! Help help

Here once again for help, 96 lt1 , im having some issues with my girl, when ever i crank her up she sputters for a very brief second
then clears up,almost as if it was carburated and loading up..
a couple of times i came to a stop and it sputtered dead..as i was
trying to start her back up acted as if i were out of gas, after sitting
bout 20 minutes or so im able to get her started..my car has
bout 130,000 miles on it,going to change out fuel pump and filter.
Anyone with suggestions on this matter feel free to leave a comment.
Oh yea anyone done this work yet, if so you can give me an idea
to what it involves..Thanks Guys
WHAT WOULD CAUSE MY CAR TO SPUTTER WHEN YOU CRANK IT?
THE TIMES IT HAS STOPPED ON ME, IT SPUTTERS RIGHT BEFORE IT QUITS, AND ON OCCASION HAS NOT STARTED BACK UP RIGHT AWAY
WONT START AS IF IT WERE OUT OF GAS.after about 20 minutes
i've been able to start it right away..im very confused ,not sure
what it could be..
I am betting on at least one leaking injector. But that is purely a guess at this point.

As for your probs, I have a '95 LT1 that had the same symptoms. The codes showed it was a bad Opti. It saved me a lot of time and money in just replacing parts.
If it's the Opti, pay the extra $$$ and get a MSD unit - they're almost bullet-proof. Change the sparkplug wires, waterpump and all the hoses at the same time. You'll be glad you did.
so where is the opti-spark?

okay ,i dont know everything about my engine compartment
guess i need to get a book ?
after further research i found that most of them are in the area of
4 to $600.00..at las i found a replacement for $229 or accell for $299.00
money is tight right now , just went thru hurricane IKE and ive been spending alot of money to get my house back in living condition..

If the fuel filter has not been changed in a while, start with that. That is a maintenance item that needs to be changed at a regular interval anyways.
If it starts immediately but chugs, I would start with checking for leaking injectors.
You need a fuel pressure gauge to do a leak down test.
thepartsladi on ebay has them...
I got mine from ebay for $99.00...and it was a GM part, but, NOT from thepartsladi.
Joebuck (the one I am am quoting) changed it over the weekend...he was well fed, and I was entertaining guests.
My opti went bad because when my car was transported here, the car hauler had the nose in the air and coming from Ga. to here... the driver encountered massive rain storms, forcing all the water up under the engine and pooling everywhere.
that was Feb./08, the opti lasted a month or two with approx 70 miles put on it in those couple of months.
Thanks again Joey!!!!
(ps. yer dad never did call me back).
Joey can change the opti in about an hour....though; the plug wires take 4x that time.....go figure!
