I just purchased a red 89 coupe with 9223 miles. I also have a 95 red coupe with 57000 miles. I'm addicted to the C4. I got the build code sheet from Bowling Green for the 95. The codes are also located in the rear compartment behind the drivers seat on the 95 but not the 89. does anyone know where the codes might be located on the 89. In the spare tire storage compartment maybe? Thanks
Over top of the gas tank. If you look up at the tank from the front end of the spare tire carrier you can often see the build sheet sticking out from the top of the gas tank. Of course, you can order a copy of the OEM window sticker and the build sheet from the Corvette museum.
Usually under the console lid or one of the storage compts lids in the hatch area.
GM move the Service Parts Identification" decal between the two places between the C4 production run. My 87 and my old 92 had this sticker under the console lid.
If it's not under your lid, the chances are that some prior owner had replaced the lid. The rplacement lids from the accessory catalogs are one piece and include the metal frame and the top.
The decal cannot easily removed as the adhesive backing will tear away the paper material and the printing is usually destroyed.
The decal itself has a GM part number, but there is no way to have another decal reprinted with the correct RPO codes, the paint code and VIN.
The NCM can provide copies of the original window sticker and the build sheet. Linky
