BACKORDER! BACKORDER! I've been trying to order a FUEL PUMP for
my '94 for a couple of days now — canceling out on at least 2 because
of "backorder"/not in stock—having to wait anywhere from 7 to 10 days. What's up with some of "popular" catalog cites. I've reached that part of frustration where I'll go to the local parts stores (NAPA, ADVANCE, AUTO ZONE) and get the FUEL PUMP & FUEL FILTER. And the popular on-line GM places can't guarantee the part and provide no PIX! Would it be a BIG MISTAKE going to the local guys or what? The GM prices are great, but
I can't tell what I'm getting! Alright all, pull my coat. What should I do?
I NEED TO RIDE MY RIDE.

Well I would avoid at all costs a dealership!! Try this...
Fuel pumps on C4's are so easy to change, I'd go down to VatoZone or Pep Girls and get a Carter pump for $75 and be done with it. In fact, I did just that about 4 years ago. Still running fine. Didn't even get the second beer finished before I was done.

I went to my local NAPA in the ghetto - not a problem at all, they had the right pump in stock, including sock, went on easy, still working.
That kit above looks nice - I still need the gasket which I was told was a dealer-only item (re-using old one which is not a good idea) , and I had to re-use the stock hose clamps which are a NIGHTMARE
Get the kit!
BTW re the dampener in the kit, I wouldn't fit it - I like the pump sound - always have. Plus it's nice to be able to hear it so you know its working every time you crank

The o-rings on the bolts are also required b/c they are part of the sealing system. The factory bolts have them but most people don't notice them b/c they are usually gone / deteriorated.
