This sucks
So I had a ticking noise. After ruling out exhaust leak, loose rockers, and what not, decided it was a lifter. Ordered the LS7 lifters, perfect fit BTW. Well, sure enough, the lobe on #5 exhaust has a gouge on it. I wanted to put a hotcam in it anyway, but not now, and not by neccessity. I just can't afford parts and labor right now, as I would get evicted from my apartment if I attempted it here.
My brother believes I'll be alright for the short term, he's seen this stuff before. But this is the worst possible time for this. The most difficult part is knowing I'm getting a Hotcam, but having to wait for it.

Hey,
Did you drop the lifters in dry? Should of had plenty of zinc additive lube on them to prevent serious metal to metal breakdown. The bitch is now that you have a gouge on the cam, where did and will all the metal go? Once the outer layer of steel on a cam is compromised, the cam is soft....kinda like tooth enamel. My suggestion is to NOT drive that car until you can afford to tear it down and replace the cam and rinse the snot out of the block. Metal chips can be murder. Just my .02
