Default Opti-Spark Testing??

Are there any easy methods for testing the '94 Lt1 OPTI-SPARK. The
additions of a new FUEL PUMP & FUEL FILTER did little to solve my
problem. Will test injectors today. One thing that I did notice is that
when pressing SCHRADER VALVE to relieve pressure from system,
I didn't notice ANY gas spillage at all. NONE—ZERO. Anyway I am still
in need of plenty HELP from you all. MANY THANKS

If your car idles for more than 30 minutes and doesn't start missfiring your opti is ok

That isnt quite accurate for every car that has an opti.

Opti's do the strangest/different things when going bad.

Had a person driven my car they would of never known it had a bad opti on one day...but could tell on a different day.

Mine could be driven for a complete hour without acting up, it would idle perfect, drive ok as long as it wasnt romped on...then, with a changing of the gears it would run rough at times.
A person could take it out the very next day; let it get into closed loop, it would idle perfect, and get an occasional backfire or miss while driving.
My problems didnt happen until I was driving to get it dyno-tuned (of course ).

I replaced the injectors first thinking that was the problem...it ran great the first time out...then the next day the opti showed its ugliness.

I got a GM opti NIB from Ebay for $99....replaced it, and its back to normal...

Jim,
Thanks for this reply. I haven't experienced any "back-firing" yet. You
can just tell the engines NOT running as it should. I can "get down" on
it in 1st, 2nd, third and maybe fourth gear. BUT NOT in 5th—definitely,
not in 6th—terrible shakes & car sounds like its about to fall a part. In
my last THREAD, before installing a new FUEL FILTER, when activating
the SCHRADER VALVE, there was NO spillage of gas, or any sounds of
a "hiss" at all. Nothing—Zero. THE GAS CAP WAS ALREADY OFF THOUGH. Any thoughts, anybody? P.S. I haven't REALLY drive my ride
in going on 2 weeks. . I getting WITHDRAWAL symptoms .

Check the back side of plug wires that possibly would could be to close to header pipe or manifold. A wire could be fouling out on the pipe. Ask me how I know. The symtems you mention are the same I was having. Also some opti act up at high rpms. Hopefully thats not your issue.

My car was driving fine, Then the car started shaking bad after I drove around for one hour. After that every time the car would warm up I would have miss.

I bet his opti, water pump and wires are probably stock.
