Jumpy speedometer
Hi everyone. I'm sure others have had this issue before, but I couldn't find any existing threads on it. I have a 96 LT4 coupe with about 80k miles on it. When I'm idling, the speedometer reading jumps around, sometimes just to 2, 4, 5, back to 0, etc. I can hear the engine running a bit unevenly, particularly with the a/c on. The dealer tried tightening the cable to the cluster, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Mine does a similar thing as well. At less than 5 mph it will jump up to 220 or other wacky high readings. It is fine a 0mph though. I think the VSS on the trans needs to be replaced. Definately can't use the scv on the radio until mine is fixed. It will make you jump out of the seat.

I hear you on the radio thing. I need to turn the scv off! Its a killer. I don't even like it under normal circumstances. In terms of speedometer, it looks like we have the exact opposite effect. My speedometer is only jumpy when not moving. Anything other than stopped, it functions normally. About the VSS, are you talking about this?
