Default Rear View Mirror question

Anyone know if the 86-96 INSIDE MIRROR-(W/ MAP LIGHT) Mounts the same as the 84-85 INSIDE MIRROR-(Without Map Light)? I want to change my interior rear view mirror and use the map lights. I know I don't have the wiring, but I can install the wiring. I was just wondering if the 86-96 had the same hole and little guide.

I put the map light in my 85 and it mounted the same. I just have to run the wires.

I installed the kit which I got from the local Corvette Clinic and because a heavier mirror assembly, it came with a "riv-nut" (rivet-nut) to be installed in the windshield frame. In stock form, a sheetmetal screw is used.

Mine is loose where the mirror goes on the rod....
On a rough road, I think it is lonely because the mirror "waves" at me!!

Im going to put a Caddy mirror in mine. Self dimming. Its glass mounted so it will go on windshield, Im alway bumping the OEM one. It sticks back into the passenger compartment too far, especially when RRing targa section.
