My '90 was an L-98 car. (remember it was a big pile of parts) A small block Chevy does just fine on Castrol GTX. There is no need for synthetic with a quality oil. Now let the brow beating begin.
...just remember, Corvettes did fine on conventional oil for 40 years before they had synthetic. They also changed nothing inside the engine that made it a neccesity to run synthetic.

just my .02
While I agree with you, some engines such as the LT1 run at pretty high temperatures and for that reason, I'd prefer to run a synthetic.
Synthetic is the way to go I run it in my ZR-1 & LS1 too!
Let me ask this question guys. What do your engines run at, temperature-wise? Mine runs at 180 degrees on a hot summer day. I'm asking because I honestly don't know, is this not normal for a C-4? I figure if the water temperature is normal, cylender head temp should be close as well. I'm just trying to gather info for future reference. Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

On a normal 75* day, i'll be around 185* oil-temp. When it gets hot maybe up to 205*. But at the track 230* isn't uncommon, both AutoX and at the drag strip.
