I am the proud owner of a pile of 1985 C4 with God only knows how many miles. I have big plans to bring this car back from the dead. This is my first Corvette project car.
I have a really stupid question. This will be the first of hundreds.
Where do I properly place jack stands under my car? I swear I am not a "Tool"
Where do I properly place jack stands under my car?
Under the rocker panels where the factory jack points are. Look for the little triangles. Here's how to put in on 4 stands at once;
Jack one side at a time. Place the jack under the rear point, jack the car, and the whole side of the car will come up. Put the stand under the front point. Move the jack behind the car and jack it under the shock mount to raise the rear, then place the second stand under the rear jack point. That side of the car is now in the air. Repeat for the other side, and you have it on 4 stands.
It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway; Look before you jack. Ensure that you aren't binding any brake lines, fuel lines etc.

Thanks.
Yeah, right. That's what they all say.
Have fun working on the car. You know where to come if you need help...we've seen it all and done it all.
I made some pads for my floor jack a jack the car at the frame pinch welds,both in the front and in the rear but as stated there are indicators on the rocker panels.If you want to use the pinch welds on the frame et down and take a look.I have plastic pads that go between the frame and jack but use whatever works for you.This is the area Im referring to.[IMG][/IMG]
