I thought i had one finaly but this dude pinstriped every thing and its paint. The dealer is asking almost twenty grand but he says he will take 18,000.00.I looked at it today almost as nice as my 93 but no warranty. I think i will watch the new ZR_1 prices ,list is not bad but 30,000.00 over no way.I lost to much on the market to old to recoup losses but cars for sale(Corvettes) are finally coming down. SAVE THE WAVE!
Painted on pin stripe can be taken off without damaging the paint. As long as its on fairly flat panels and not close to edges. If you are not a proffessional painter I would have a pro do it. This is how you do it. Its a VERY SLOW process. Take 1000 to 2000 Grit wet sand paper. Use a rubber block and only sand the pinstripe. Be careful not to sand thru base and clear coats. Color buff shine back on when done.
If the striping looked that bad, sounds like you're better off to keep looking.
If you were to buy it, IMO, I would leave the pin striping alone regardless of whether it's painted or tape. If it was tape, you could try soaking it in 3M adhesive remover or WD40 overnight. If it comes right off, you're good. If you still have to peel it, you risk pulling up the clear or paint.
I'd also strongly suggest you don't take 1000 grit sandpaper to painted on stripes. 1000 will go through clear in no time - and I absolutely guarantee you won't be able to contain your sanding to just the pin striping. If you were going to risk wet sanding, you always start with the least abrasive first. 1000 is heavy cut.
