After reading a very good post dreamer2468 had on refinishing the top I decided to give it a try. Not exactly like she did but kind of. I didn't have that much time.
I started out with a sanding disk I use on some of my wood projects. It is the same as 1000 grit paper. They are made by Abralon. I put some Menzerna Intensive Polish on that and went over it once. Then I went to a wool pad with the same compound on it. I used all of this on a Porter Cable 7224 sander with the RPM set between 3&4. The sander came as a kit with different polishing disks in it. I started out with the coarsest and went up the line using the same Menzerna Polish with each one. When I got to the last disk ( I think there were 4 all together) I used Menzerna Final Finish on the last one. It still has some slight blemishes in it but it's 100% better than it was. I couldn't see my seats through the top when I started. Now I can. I did not coat it with a clear coat. All of this took about an hour and a half. All of this was done with the top on the car.
