What would be the high price for this cherry/mint vette?
Just go to ebay and type in 1996 corvette and look at the completed auctions. Only thing going for above~$10k are LT4 cars. Sorry it is what it is and a lousy market to try and sell a car in.
If it's any consolation, I'd lean more toward the $16-$18k range. I wouldn't even consider selling until spring, though, because unless you stumbled on the right buyer, no one will pay what it is worth.
I have to agree with the 10-12K crowd. This is what ebay suggests. This is the only way to see what the cars actually sell for, is to look at closed auctions where the car sold. You see them listed in autotrader for more, but who knows whether the owner actually sells them and if so, for how much?
What I don't understand is why people want to sell these cars. They're fun, have lots of mod potential, are cheap and easy to fix, and they don't sell for lots of money. Lots of C5 and C6 guys just keep their C4s. Nothing wrong with having two Corvettes, one for the track and one for the street.
Please, you go out and try to find a mint 1996 with 17k miles
for 10-12 grand. I will introduce you too the tooth fairy.
It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Put it on eBay with no reserve and a $1 opening bid, and you'll quickly find out what it's really "worth".
Look, if you can find a sucker to give you $20K for it, more power to you....but don't hold your breath. You asked for opinions and you got them. There are an abundance of nice C4's for sale right now, we're in the middle of a serious economic slump that just keeps getting worse, and a lot of people are worried about losing there jobs. Fewer people can afford to buy high dollar old cars these days....keeping a roof over their head has become a priority instead. That put some perspective into it for you? Maybe the tooth fairy will buy your car.
As we settle further into Great Depression II, a lot of folks are going to get a serious reality check that they probably aren't going to like.

Not here in Sunland Park, its booming a guy right in the middle of town
just got his house painted. He's selling tickets to look at it.
The line backs all the way up to Santa Teresa. Its better than Friday night at Billy Crews.
Its worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay for it. I would love to see nice base C4s selling in the $18K range but its just not happening. Mint condition ZR-1s with around 50K miles are going in the $15K range. Its a buyers market. I just plan to hold onto my C4 indefinately, I couldn't get what I believe its worth and I have a lot of improvements in it.
We complain about the C4 market yielding ridiculously low sales prices but look at most other cars in the 12-24 year age range. C4s have held their value pretty well compared to most other vehicles.

No need to be rude.
You asked and I told you what I feel it's worth. Go to ebay and other auction sites as other have suggested. Use KBB, NADA...I did and it say 10.900 as the tops for private party. In the end it's worth what someone will pay for it as other have said.

Let's face it every 'Vette owner that has poured his blood sweat and tears into it thinks he has something special and valuable sorta like GM stock last year, look at it now it is going for what people are willing to pay for it. Unfortunately nobody likes to have reality stuck in his face.I as well as everyone else would love to see C4's not depreciate anymore but it ain't gonna happen now and mabey ever.C5's are up next........
