I have a 96' coupe LT1 that I bought last June. It has different tires on the front and rear and I am thinking that the car should handle better than it does. Never had a vette before but I had an 85 Fiero that handled really well and my Vette does not seem to handle as well. I need recommendations on good handling tires in dry and rain but no winter driving. Would like to have limited road noise also.
Thanks for any and all your help.
This is another thread that should have used the 'search function' as there must be over a hundred threads on this subject. But You could also go to www.tirerack.com and see what is recommended and the reviews that other purchasers recommend. Your gonna get a lot of recommendations anyway.
Choice seems to be limited by size. I want to replace my 285's on the back but not many choices at least from Tirerack anyway. 275's loads more to choose from.
I'm not a big Goodyear fan, but they are the only ones that have decent tires in the sizes I need(ZR1 size). The GS-D3's hold up pretty well in wet weather.
I like my cooper zeons. They were a huge improvement over my old tires. There not too expensive either.
Bought the car with Goodyear GSD3, not a bad tire but not worth the money. Faulken after those, no bueno. Cooper's have been great so far, only slip when I want them to. Not the "best" tire overall, but for the money they are great and come in stock 285 size. Oh, and they look pretty good on the car.
Thanks guys for all the info. I did try tirerack but I did not see any corvette owners giving any feedback, that's why I decided to ask the question on this forum. there is a wealth of knowledge here and I want to thank you for your input. I will check out your recomendations and then decide.
Mmm I couldnt afford the Goodyears that came with the car but,
I did install a set of inexpensive Kumho Ecsta SPT , they actualy
run quieter then the GoodYears.. handles very well in the rain and
handle the pavement really well.... round $600.00 for the set....
