Console Cover a success

After buying a new GM console cover and getting advice on this forum, here are the results from my first attempt to dye interior parts.

New cover painted:

It make the rest of the interior look its age so now I have to refinish the rest of the interior.

Looks great , be sure and take before and after pictures of you interior. I was wondering how a interior color change would work with the dyes.

I bought a new cover with the intent of painting it. What did you use? Spray can? Where do you get the paint?

I bought the spray dye from Corvette America, but all the corvette catalogs carry it. I used SEM Vinyl Prep to clean and prepare the surface (availible at an automotive paint supply shop). I used 5 thin coats of dye, waiting 5 minutes between coats. I was told to let it sit for 48 hours before installing.

I just finished mine also. I used the vinyal paint from ecklers (spray) and mine looks great also =)

Does anyone have a clue as to why they refer to this stuff as "dye" rather than paint? Does it actually absorb into the vinyl like a dye or does it coat the surface like a paint?
