Does anybody know the best way to take the radio out of my vette. Is it done from the front or the rear of the dash?

front- you need to remove the vent bezel - above the radio/heatercontrol bezel first, then the console bezel (you may be able to loosen the console bezel enough to remove the radio bezel). finally the radio trim bezel, then pull the radio out, toward the driver/passenger. it's a tight fit to say the least...

1. Put parking brake on
2. Open console remove two screws that retain the back side of the shift plate to the console. (You can do this without removing the door)
3. Remove screw hiding underneath the cup holder
4. Pull back slightly the shifter and cup holder portion of the console towards the rear of your car. If manual transmission you dont have to worry about the orange shift indicator. With AT you do also it helps to pull the shifter back while you moving the cover off the top. Be mindfull of the shift indicator as it can break ( Now you have the answer to WTF do I need to set the Parking brake lol)
5. Two screws retain the radio surround bezel on the bottom lower left and lower right. Remove those.
6. Pull the top AC vent by removing two phillip head screws. This is the one next to your Drivers Information Center (DIC) with all the control buttons. Pull vent towards you
7. Once the vent is removed the last Radio bezel screw is visable and needs to be removed
8. Remove Radio surround bezel, You may need to tug slightly as two wire retention clips still hold it in place. Be careful with those clips as they tend to break from the rear of the radio surround bezel if you try to pull it out from the top or bottom. Try to go for the center of the bezel as that is were the clips are.
9. You will now see the radio retention bolts and the rest is straightforward.

Welcome to the forum. I replaced my Factory head unit a few months ago. What I replaced it with can be seen in my corvette photos. Good luck
