Hi All,

I am curoius as to what is involved in upgrading the base suspension to Z51. I understand that I have to replace springs and sway bars. Anything else? Has anyone else done this? How much $$$?

Thanks,
BILL

Well if you want JUST the suspension part of it....

Springs, sway bars, bilstein shocks, bushings. That should just about cover it. There were lots more items included with Z51/Z52.

Don't forget the steering rack, if I remember correctly stock is about 4 turns lock to lock and Z51 is about 2. My Z52 is 2.5 turns with many of the same Z51 suspension pieces. I think the sway bars and springs are slightly different, but it has the Blistiens and the big wheels. I love it, its a required option as far as I'm concerned (Z51 or Z52)

I didn't consider that part of the suspension. :)

Might as well make "the list" again....

Oil Cooler
Swaybars
Springs
Shocks
Bushings
Extra Frame Braces
Power Steering Cooler
Quick-Ratio Steering Rack
9.5" wide rims at all corners

...and other stuff depending on the year. :)

Thanks for the help. What if anything can eliminated if it is a 96 LT4? Are these parts still available from the dealer?

The steering rack is about the best part of the whole Z-51 package.

The springs, shocks and chassis braces are ok but you'll REALLY like the Z-51 rack. It will make your Vette drive SOOOOOO much better.

you guys 100% positive the 1996 has a quicker steering rack. I have seen post that said no. Only one rack in 1996.
