This is an older engine pic. It is much more clean under the hood, and have started to polish parts. The flash made the plenum look nicer that it may be.
You can also have the parts "tumbled" that will make them really shine, but for a long lasting finish, I would get it powder coated chrome, then clear.
I like the polished look of the plenum but I painted my runners then add valve covers that were polished. The alternator bracket cleans up good also the air cleaner cover is aluminum if you strip off the paint you can polished that . Added some covers for brake & power steering caps. Have not gotten around to installing chrome cover for AC but you can also polished wiper motor housing. As far as care goes, I just wipe it down so its staying clean Never Dull works great.

I say powder coat and based on durablity and maintinence, you won't be sorry. My intake etc. has been off many times (including using it on the new motor) and other than wiping it down looks like the day it was done (where the bolts go down, is barely marred, and fuel hasn't hurt the finish either).
OK, you are not the first to ask, you use the PVC valve on the drivers side cover its located on the top side. The covers came with side baffles so you could do this I machined 1 inch holes in the cover.
[QUOTE=mtnman;1568036887]Polished looks better - but can be a pain to keep shiny... I powdercoated mine since I'm too lazy to polish regularly
that's a misconcept
i m super lazy at polish
and its shiny all the time
you have to repolish everyonce in a while but that's optional
polished shine never goes away
