Default C4 vs M5

So I just bought a 2000 BMW M5 down in Argentina, diversifying assets out of USA etc

Theres a sweet late model black C4 coupe down there I'd love to snap up

They are asking $55k and Yes that is in USD, taxes are a beeotch there

Gonna offer $30k, I know its a lot of $ for a C4 but importing anything built after 1973 is impossible unless its brand new zero miles, then you have to deal w 100% tax. So a new Z06 is around $135k there

So getting back to the subject, My cousin will be driving the M5, I think it can smoke a stock C4

but I plan on adding a TC radiator, headers, exhaust, 4 point roll bar, maybe I can take some Lingentfelter heads & chip down there w me to help even things out

TC is a racing class down there, imagine a mix of NASCAR/sportscar/ and vintage racing and thats TC

So what else could I do to beat the M5 ?

What year?

Punch and stroke the motor. You will not have much problem after that. If you want to pull hard on him, then add a SC or N20.

However, that is tooooo much $ for a C4 in any area of the world (just my .02).

Supercharger, theres an idea

do they have lag like turbos ?

do you have to replace the pistons ?

I don't think there is currently a turbo kit, but one is in the works. Here is a recent thread about that very subject.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-f...n-the-way.html

Also here is another thread where one owner installed a turbo successfully and posted dyno results.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-f...ltx-355-a.html

Crazy power and yes, the M5 would be no problem after this.

As for SC, they don't have the lag, but I don't think they make this kind of power. I'm no forced induction expert, so I'll wait for others to chime in on needing different internals.

$55 K for a C4? The suspense is killing me, why is this a better deal than buying one here for $10-$12K? If $40,000 is too painful for you to hold on to, I will give you my address to send the check.

THe other alternative is dumping $35k into my 68 roadster and taking that down, but I dont want to drive a roadster down there

Coupes are much better for there

There is another way that I may try

Also, what C4 is in consideration? What makes you think that M5 will even keep up with a C4 Vette? HP numbers? That don't matter. As well, if you have $35K to spend, I ran across a Calloway Twin Turbo (C4) for sale in C4's for sale for around $30K. Maybe that would keep up with that smok'n M5.

If it's an Lt4 car your looking at, you can out-accelerate him. The e39 is no slouch, if he gets the jump it will be a while until you pass him.

Buying mods will definitely help the car move. The roll bar wont do much, thats just for your safety though.

I would put my money on the M5 against the C4. I definitely believe the M5 will out handle and out brake the C4. Sorry guys.
I am a C4 owner so please don't kill me for typing this.
but if you are paying that much for a C4, you should be able to keep up with a jet.
