Default Hood prop ?

Good morning all!
So, as I mentioned in my "vette virgin" intro, Im here for my first "help question"
My hood and hatch won't stay up on my '85 without me holding it up. I know I need a prop of some sort. Do I get the strut kind (like pictured below) or do I need to get the scissor kind? (found both on ebay, but dont want to get the wrong one that won't hold my hood and hatch up!)
Thanks much!

I think the 85 used the scissor-type, while the later C4s (not sure of the year switch) used the struts.

84 thru 86 used the scissors. Afterwards there were two different assists that replaced the scissors. One version was a spring/lock and the other was a gas cylinder that locked (kinda) open. I modified my 86 to the gas type that required some fabrication of the OEM parts. If your interested PM me with your email and I'll send some pics.

in addition to the scissor prop, you need the 2 new small hydraulic closers you have pictured. They may be small but when I replaced mine, they helped alot.
