Default Strange Sighting

Well just about done changing out my intake gasket probably fire it up tomorrow and hope it still works anyway the biggest reason I attempted this feat was I wanted to install new bosch 3 injectors and thought while at it I just as well try and fix the pesky oil lesk that's been bothering me since I bought the car anyway I dropped several tools under the car and while crawling under trying to retrieve them I noticed a lot of oil in the area around the oil filter. On closer inspection I noticed what looks like a 3/4 radiator hose clamped to a nipple just above the filter it looks like its kinked in halve could not see if it hooked to anything behind the filter it certainly don't appear to be part of the original equipment. anybody know what should be hooked up there?/ there's also another hose which looks like it's coming from the bottom of the block it has a brass valve on the end and just hanging there?? I have a service manual but can't find any reference to these strange hoses. If anybody knows please fill me in. I'll try and jack the thing up tomorrow and get some photos
thanks
Don

Some earlier C4's had oil coolers on them. I don't know where they were plumbed in to the engine, because my '96 doesn't have one, but maybe yours had one that somebody removed for some reason.

It might be an engine coolant line from the radiator for the oil cooler.

Do you think I need to replace if indeed it was an oil cooler? have not had any trouble with car overheating even in the summer have driven around 5000 miles. Thanks much for your replies.

That's where the oil cooler runs - coolant is simply circulated through the housing - oil doesn't run to anything. What YEAR is this? I don't remember there being brass fittings, but I often pull the hose to drain the block when I'm swapping out coolant. Radiator Section of your Shop Manual should show the hoses.
