Curious - Has anyone tried to align their vette and was successful?
What tools would be required?
If you have mechanical aptitude you could do the alignment, but you will need a caster/camber guage and several different hand tools. Also, If you don't have a 180 ft/lb capable toque wrench, take it to a professional shop. Here's a link that may help-
Talk to some people in your area and find a shop that will take the time to do it right. I spent 2 hours to get the shims right in the front end correctly set here in my shop.
Take the car to a shop so they can do it properly. Because the rear also requires alignment, what you do to the front end can impact the alignment of the rear end.
A four-wheel alignment shouldn't run more than $75 to $125. Find a reputable shop that will do the work without trying to do a hard sell on things like shocks, tie rod ends, or ball joints. These pieces do have to be in good shape to get an accurate alignment, but a reputable shop will tell you what condition the parts are in and whether or not they should be replaced.
Stay away from the chain places like Sears, Firestone, or similar names. You might check with the local AAA office to see who they recommend for service.
