I did a tune up on my 86 today and had to replace the valve cover gaskets (leaking a little oil) and threw on some new chrome valve covers at the same time. Well, I pulled the factory valve covers off and to my surprise the car had Comp Cam 1.6 Roller Rockers! Needless to say, I am thrilled! My first surprise when I bought the 86 in January 08 was the Dana 44 with 3.73 gears (previous owner didn't have a clue about Corvettes, the owner before had done the gear swap and roller rockers). I don't know if anything else has been done to it. But, it will run 14.0 in the quarter with the early L98 motor. Finally...something good!
Nothing in the storage compartment...already checked when I restored the interior. I did find an earing, but it wasn't a real diamond.
As for hammer time, I was doing the tune up so my wife can drag race it this weekend. She has never drag raced before (just watched me do it) and has decided to give it a shot. Since my Monte Carlo still needs some trans work and she didn't want to race her Daytona R/T in the Mopar Challenge, I figured I'd get the 86 Vette running well, so she could race with me in the Corvette Challenge at our local drag strip. She is now referring to the 86 Vette as her Vette...and she hasn't even raced/driven it yet! I may have created a monster.
Not really....I was planning on selling the 86 Vette since I have the 08 Vette. I think her thought is if we keep it then she will have the 07 Charger Daytona R/T and the 86 Vette and I would have my 08 Vette and 86 Monte Carlo SS. Oh well, I guess if she wants to keep it, it gives me another car to modify.

The Wife might like the feeling of torque. Kathy was afraid to drive it at first.
dang.... i found a tube of lipstick under the passenger seat...
lol, the guy I bought my car from is a dentist. I just found his clip on ID badge for the dentistry college behind the passenger seat. I doubt he needed it considering the car had been parked for years before I got it...
Yep....this is the one I have up for sale. Although, the price my wife wants me to get for it is going to keep it from selling...which is a good thing, I guess.
