Default Power Window problems..I need some help

My passenger side power window will not work in the afternoons, but in the mornings it works. Does anyone have any idea where to start looking for the problem?

Thanks in advance

The only thing you can do is start chasing wires when its not working. I don't have the wiring diagrams for my car yet, hopefully soon. Sounds like a possible intermittent ground. The switches have to have a common ground or power connection check there. Hopefully someone with service docs can chime in. Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck.

Hey thanks anyway, I have been scratching my head on this one. I was thinking it is heat related, since sitting outside all day it stops working...I wonder if there is a common relay to operates each window.

   dmalhi1 when i saw your name I knew it was gonna be something about tabasco...you just send me your address and I will send you enough tabasco to keep you warm this winter..
The good part about it that I never use the passenger side window but it aggrevates me knowing something doesn't work like it should. I am gonna fix that sucker this weekend if it kills me.

Cowboy i sent u the Wiring Diagram from my 94 Helms on PowerWindows..they should be somewhat or the same with the troubleshooting guide also attached......as i was looking....it seems maybe u have a ground loose and when the temp r somewhat cool....the contact......"contract" due to the cooler temp...and as the temps raise....the contact "expands"....leading u to a loose ground....just my thought.

Dualnic,

Thanks for the email, I just printed all that out and that makes it look easy :yesnod: The puzzling part is that it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't . Now today we had a cool front come thru, but you probably already knew that since you are in Texas, and it worked this afternoon for the first time this week. I am gonna get on this in the morning and will let you know what i find..

Thanks again

Your Welcome....i am still waiting for that "COOL" front to arrive....it is still in the lower 80's high 70's right now.....which is fine...going to take off the TOP and going cruiseing tonight..... :)

Then my hunch might be correct....since u r having "Cooler Temp" the contact r "contracted" right now.

Man, it must be nice to drive your car all year 'round. They're calling for 6-8" of snow tomorow here in wonderful York,PA. Figures, I just picked up my vette Monday and this would be the first full day I would get to drive it. You wouldn't have an extra room for rent would yah!

Just went through this with a friend's C4. Sounds like it's the motor, especially since you mention the door switches either both work, or they both don't. :(

But before jumping that far, check the ground behind the driver's side sill panel carpet, just forward of the speaker. Wouldn't hurt to check the circuit breaker either (passenger side dashboard). Either would likely cause both windows to fail though.

You can also check to see if both window switches are properly applying 12V across the window motor, when you hit either switch. The wiring diagram/diagnostic chart you have probably covers this...

Also, this is not a sure bet, but check your dashboard volt gauge to see if it drops about 0.2V when you hit a window switch. This would mean the signal is likely getting to the motor but nothing is happening.

Hope that helps...

Take the door panel off first, a whole lot of wires to mess with under there, may be an easy fix just by looking at it! Good luck.

Don't know if this will help or not:

On my 88 the switches(plastic part) seem to be partialy seperated from the switch itself. When my window won't go up I jiggle the plastic part and it catches on the real switch and up it goes. I need new switches, your problem might be different but it wouldn't hurt. the switches are cheaper than the motor.
