3rd Generation as in C3. 3rd gen Corvette were 1968-1982. There is 3rd gen F bodies, Mustangs, etc.

3rd gen = Lots of squeaks and rattles. Poor ride quality. Bad body panel alignment and paint quality. Leaky T-tops. Rusty body to frame mounts. Weak kneed engines from 73 to 82.... and the list goes on.

And since you're in the C4 Forum, you probably have a "4th Gen"!

They started out good, but ended up horrible.
The C4 was head over heals ahead of the late C3s.

If this is the case, it refers to the LS series of motors, as in the C5 and C6 engines. Gen-I was all small-blocks up to 1992, then Gen-II is the LT1/4 from 92-96 (on Vettes at least, I know the Trans Am had an LT1 in '97).

Default what does 3rd gen mean?

My grandfather was born in the US to European immigrants.

My father was born in the US.

I'm a third generation American. (Or does that make me Irish/German-American?)
