The fender wells on my 86 have been sprayed with undercoating. I want to remove the undercoating and paint them if needed. What is the best way to remove the undercoating?
Good question-I have the same problem. I don't know how to attach links to previous threads but there are some good pointers on repainting them and the spare tire cover.
I was scrubbing my upper fender wells yesterday afternoon and was going to post a similar question. Looks like they will unbolt easy enough.
Bug and tar remover would probably take it off and not harm the paint. I would put it in a hand sprayer and apply it that way. But I would still protect the paint from overspray. I might hit it with Simple Green afterward. Some of the other solvents might harm the paint unless you really take care.
If it's what I think your talking about,I really doubt you can remove it.At least not without alot of time, and suffering. Why not just paint over it? Or if you just can't stand the textured look, buy some good used replacements. You may even see if you can buy new ones, but prepair to get reamed.
Type in undercoating removal. They sell an aerosol spray, as well as a kit.
They sell some great products, & even have a forum with experts on the products they sell.
