Default P K E Module...

Gents,

My P K E was not working and I tought it was the antenna but, it is in good shape after I trouble shooted with the FSM. The transmiter worked so my final verdict is the module. It is located behind the CCM. To get there, ALL center console components have to be removed .

What would you do?

Go for it or use the key like 92 and before Vettes?

How much a PKE module costs? I looked in XBay and there were none for sale.

Considering what an annoyance the PKE is, constantly locking and unlocking the doors if you're working around the car with the fob in your pocket, I'd vote for letting it stay dormant and just use the key. The only thing I use my fob for is to open the rear hatch.

Describe what steps you took to determine the transmitter worked. I had problems getting my new fob to program and found that the "turn off" step was were it failed the light did not flash. I got it though by holding the key in on turn off and having someone else bring the fob in range. It was losing contact at that point.Hope this helps.

That really is not a problem. I always hold the door lock button down till it cycles(locks and unlocks turns PKE off) when I work on it or take somewhere to get something done.

I used the FSM. The transmitter works, I used my 95 Vette to program it. It worked

You need tools, a voltmeter, patience, beer, music and let the C4 love guide you....

All PKE components are hiding

If it is any consolation it is not that hard to pull the center console stuff out just a little tedious.

So I take it you have done it then? I purchased a reciever to install, but have been procrastinating for fear I am going to screw something major up.

I have scans from the FSM for upper trim removal & PKE replacement.

If interested my e-mail is lsylvestri@sbcglobal.net

It isn't that difficult to get to. Just go slow & easy & label everything.
