Happy New Year, friends! I am looking at upgrading the interior of my 1988 C4 coupe (flame red). I saw on Mid American Motorworks replacement console cushions -- Finish Line Console Cushion - two-tone
There is an installment process, and I am afraid I might have trouble replacing the lid since it is already somewhat loose. I think the light has to be disconnected and rewired, and that worries me with the loose lid.
I am also wondering if the finish line pattern might be "too busy" for the interior look. ???
Does anyone have these cushion replacements, or has anyone seen them?
What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time and opinion!

If so, here are the instructions for installing the cushion: LINK. Those are the instructions off the MidAmerica website. It will take a little time to load as it's a PDF file. It says to disconnect the light connector with a small, flat-blade screwdriver. Doesn't look difficult at all.
Can I ask why you're considering a console cushion? Is it so you can have a more padded armrest? Is the original center console lid unsightly? Is the foam detaching (if so, there is an easy fix for this)? How well do you think the red matches your interior red?
Thanks for the reply. I had the same questions/concerns (real need, color match). After thinking about it, I have decided to leave the original console in place. I appreciate your advice.

I like the look of the cushions they sell. Looks like an easy install, just take off the lid, and wrap the cover over it. It looks completely reversible if needed. I have just a cushion, and the color match to my flame red interior is dead on.
The fix I used is 3M interior glue. My console lid was coming apart, (the top from the metal), near the hinge. I glued it back down with the 3M stuff, worked like a charm.
I had read to first clear out any very loose foam. Then use Gorilla glue as it expands into the foam and creates a solid bond. While it is drying, use saran wrap to clamp it together along with any other clamps or heavy objects you have. This can also work for the glove compartment lid. I haven't tried it yet, but I read it worked well for a couple of people. I'll be doing it in the next month (preferably before the end of the week) on mine and will post pictures and results.
Gorilla glue holds a lot of things together I didn't think possible. It expands, so only a thin layer is needed. Don't get it on your hands though - it's a PITA to get off.
I have & like the console cushion althought mine is not like the one pictured, however you would stil need a good fitting door to fit it on. You should be able to repair what you have with no trouble small bungee straps will work also to hold it tight till the glue dries.
