I want to build a street car/rat vette and have been thinking about a C4 project. Im considering a C3 and a second gen Camaro but the rust factor is making me think more about a early C4, not to mention the other benefits like suspension.
Id be looking for a early C4, maybe around 2 grand, (got one for sale?) Id like to run an old school carbed motor and get rid of all the wiring headaches, oxygen sensors and such. Along with that a analog dash/gauges would be nice. Manual shift would be nice also. Can a manual shift be adapted to a AT car? Pedals and such?
Almost like gutting it, getting a wire harness from painless or similuar.
Anyone have any experience, words of wisdom before I get thinking about it too much. Something I could drive and work on at the same time.
Just from what ive gathered from the site, switching an auto car to a manual would cost more than the car is worth in the long run. Try to find a manual to begin with and i think it would save a lot of headaches. C4s make great autoxing cars, 2k for an early C4 is not an impossible task, but the interior and maybe exterior will probably be beat up. Easy fix if you are gutting the interior. Best of luck, i know with more info will chime in soon.
