Default 84 engine sensors question

The 383 almost in, less than 2 hours from startup!! putting on all the new sensors, knock sensor on the DS, water temp on both sides of the block and the front of the inatake, however the oil sensors are messing with my head.

Helms manual diagrams pages 321-323 shows the oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block, it had this gawd aweful mess if 90 degree brass couplings leading to the sensor, and the oil temp sensor shown at the filter;

Until I stumbled across that diagram I was under the impression from past posts and the Hanes manual that the pressure sensor was at the filter, and the temp sensor was at the back. which is right? also do I need to use that nasty maze of brass, or can I just bypass all that mess?

In factory setup
Oil gauge sensor and oil pressure switch for fuel pump are at rear of block. Later models has a combined unit instead of two seperate

Oil temp is above the oil filter.

Can get oil pressure at either point but preferable to check OP as far from pump as poss

Knock sensor is on pass side in block

Temp sensors should be in heads where temp is hottest.Coolant is coldest in bottom of block
