Default 1986 'fixed' roof

Can anyone tell me if they made a 'fixed' roof on the 1986 vettes?

I have the opportunity to purchase a decent 1986 vette and the guy selling it told me that it has fixed roof. (over phone, havent seen the car in person yet.

I dont recall that GM made the 86 vette with a fixed roof... I thought they were either a targa top or convertible??

thanks!

thats what I was thinking. I didnt want to mention as he appears unfamilar with these cars and would use this to lower his asking... He wants $4500 for the car and I was going to offer $4000. Car is in good shape overall. says it has bit of a rough idle, but figured that would probably be nothing more than tune-up. 90,000 miles on it.

Years ago I bought a mint '88, the owner didn't know the roof came off, but, in answer to the question, there was no fixed roof in any stock C4.

if it is a vert, maybe someone put a hard top on it, and he thinks it is an FRC! ??? If it is a vert the top is fabbed to fit the car. I would think he means it is a targa top not a vert.

Please be warned! :

The list of things that can cause a "Rough Idle" on an L98 is about a mile long. "Plugs, wires, rotor and cap" usually will not solve the problem. The fixes are well documented here and the memebrs are eager to help you out, but you can spend a lot of time (and money) making an L98 idle correctly.

It took me 3 years to get my idle to where it is now, and it still isn't perfect, but it is the best it has been during my ownership. I was also able to drive the car the entire time I was working on it.

Couldn't agree more. Last "rough idle" issue I had was not one fuel injector but TWO!!!! Ya never know. Runs like a top now though!
