I would re-valve the stock shocks and use the saved money for track events. Improving your driving will net more gains then coil overs. Unless your already excellent.

More talent would not mean less roll or more stiff suspension..
I would give Gary at Hardbar a call. he sells the Penske-shocked coilovers with dual-rate springs for C4/5/6 vettes, and knows his stuff. Forum member ghoffman
I agree with what is said above, but I would like to know what people are running for spring rates. I want to do a cheap coil over setup on the front (maybe the back later) of my 96, and I was thinking of starting with an 8" 600 lbs spring. Again, all road racing and no drag racing.

Excatly, I would like to know what spring people are running on their cars and for what purpose..
I hear what you are saying about money vs. track time.
BUT if you can get the Coil over setup cheap, then I guess its a clear win, either way it is cheaper than new shocks for, so guess i will try it out.

Your old thread has lots of info. Try making a thread on this in tech or the racing section for more?
hi, i had the 8 inch springs on my coilovers on the 1991 zr1. the front rate was 500 lbs and the rear rate was 300 lbs. i also have the moraca fx3 revalved shocks. this was a very stiff setup for regular highway driving even on the lowest shock setting. at speed, this is an excellent setup. combine this setup with 1 mm toe in total on front end, 1/2 mm toe out on rear end and 2 mm neg. camber front and rear and 7 1/2 degree caster and you will have a better than great open road race set up. also, the car is lowered as seen in my avatar. it took alot of experimenting to come up with this set up. hope that this helps. seeya
