Default Scratch repair

I just noticed a scratch on my right front fender area just above the tire. Have no idea how it happened. I am cautious as to where I park and everything. Anyway, as I run my finger over it I can feel that it is deep. It is through the paint and the scratch is white in color. Would touch up paint do the job. I am sure that my Chevy house could match the color ( Polo Green). Or is there anything else that can be done short of painting the whole area. Thanks for any help.

If you're not afraid of a little wet sanding...you can do a fine job with touch-up paint.

First...carefully sand any raised lips on the scratch smooth with 1500 grit paper. Then, using MANY thin coats of touch up paint, fill the scratch with the paint. Actually, you want to OVER fill the scratch so you can sand it down when you're done. Allow it to dry to the touch between coats. After the final coat...let it dry overnight. Then using a small "block" (i used a piece of a tooth brush handle) and 2000 grit paper, sand the filled scratch down to the surface. Be careful not to go through the clear coat beside the scratch.

Now use a good fine cut compound to polish, and wax like normal.

It takes a lotta ka-hoonas to get started...but this technique works.

Good luck! Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
