I have gotten the okay from the boss to buy a 1996 or 1995 C4 convertable for my everyday car. I have been into Porsches and know want to get my first C4. I have two questions.
Well in 1996 there were 2 engine choices. The LT1 - 300 hp and the LT4 - 330 hp(underrated). If you buy an automatic you get the LT1 if you buy the 6 speed stick you get the LT4.
If you are gonna be doing autocrossing you might want to go with the stiffer suspension if not go with the base suspension.
Not much too look for in way of problems. The late model C4's were built pretty solid. But things to look out for is to check for intake manifold oil leaks. By no means a show stopper, but a bargaining point. This leak tends to be a common problem with C4.
The LT4 is faster then the early model C5's stock for stock.
Pick a budget, find the best looking and well cared for car that you can. Don't jump on the first one, unless you HAVE to have that particular one, there are over 1 million more Vettes out there.-C.J.
