Or you can use some small nuts. It worked perfectly on mine that was full of DexCool sediment. I didn't even have to use soap (and I was afraid of leaving soap behind).
PASSING EMISSIONS
Bring it in on a low tank of gas (1-2 gallons) and add a quart or two or rubbing alcohol (at least 80% alcohol, the greater the concentrate the better) right before the test. This should lower your emissions by 20-40%. Since rubbing alcohol has water in it (hence the reason to go with the strongest alcohol content) immediately drive your baby to a gas station afterwards and fill-er up.
All great ideas and I have used several of these while starting work on my 87 couple. This is my first vette after wanting one for several years and now in my fifties I finally got it. I wanted a c4 and fully understood that it needed work. You have all helped in making this a fun project so far. After being a mechanic for over thirty years even this is real experience and hopefully plan to due all the work myself. Keep the ideas coming because I have used several of them. Thanks again.
Over the years the rugs in my 59 built up dirt and "grease" marks from me and various mechanics getting in and out. I wanted to clean them up but not smear the grease and make it worse. Since I do the dishes at home, I decided to try Dove liquid dish washing detergent. I was absolutely amazed at how clean the rugs came with not effect on the color (red). Quick easy and cheap. No smear, no nothing, the grease literally disappeared and the rugs look brand new. I used a fairly concentrated amount and had to spend some time "rinsing" the rug to get the soap out. Next time I'll try a more diluted mix. Ended up doing the rugs in my 87 also.
