I guess the question should be do all serpentine belt set ups use the reverse rotation water pump, I hate to sound stupid but I am not sure what or where to look, long story short, I did some work on a late 70s Monte carlo and the owner brought a water pump for it, that was not his problem and left the water pump for me, will it work on my 85 with serpentine set up?

The Monte Carlo water pump won't fit your 89 Vette because the Monte Carlo water pump has a Long impeller shaft housing and the Vette uses the Short impeller shaft housing.
Also, the Monte Carlo water pump is Standard Rotation using a V-belt pulley designed for a 305 cubic inch V8 engine and is physically smaller than the C4 water pump.
