Default C4 Targa Top

I am looking to replace my targa top on my 85 Vette. What years will fit this? How can you tell what year it belongs to if the seller does not know? Anybody have any suggestions. Thanks for any help....

84-86.
87-88.
89-96.
The brackets could be changed on the top of the windshield. It's been done and documented.

Do a search, there are pictures posted to show the 3 styles.

The tops are all the same size and any model year top will fit your car. It's the front mounting hardware that changed.

Actually, it's 84 - 86 early and 86 late - 88. They made the changeover midyear.

Direct fit no mods. 84 to 86E (early 86). For the other yrs I believe the frame is different in the front that is why just changing brackets is difficult.

Where are you at?

Here's one. I don't know the condition. But it could be what you need.

Hope this helps.

You didn't give us your location so I am not sure if these folks are near you: www.vette2vette.com in Streator, IL. They can help you "Cruise with Used".

Get hold of a copy of Richard Newton's "101 Projects for Your 1984-1996 Corvette". He has a very good picture of the various pins.

You don't change the pins, you change the receptor plates on the windshield frame. They are mounted with #40(I think) Torx head bolts. Your tools will need to be heavy duty, as it will take an impact to get them loose.
