I am looking to replace my targa top on my 85 Vette. What years will fit this? How can you tell what year it belongs to if the seller does not know? Anybody have any suggestions. Thanks for any help....
Direct fit no mods. 84 to 86E (early 86). For the other yrs I believe the frame is different in the front that is why just changing brackets is difficult.
Where are you at?
Here's one. I don't know the condition. But it could be what you need.
Actually..They thru in what they had left at the end of the model year...I have an 86L with or had alum heads(which is a True 86L) ..and my top had the early model pins...Now I have a couple of sets of 2nd gen and third gen roof brackets...I bought these while trying to figure what the hell I had.I will sell a set once you know wich roof your gonna get..All the back mounts are the same
I just sold an 85 top a week ago. I just became a member here and was planning to sell of some more parts. I probably should have joined a wek ago. Haha.

You didn't give us your location so I am not sure if these folks are near you: www.vette2vette.com in Streator, IL. They can help you "Cruise with Used".
You don't change the pins, you change the receptor plates on the windshield frame. They are mounted with #40(I think) Torx head bolts. Your tools will need to be heavy duty, as it will take an impact to get them loose.
