84 crossfire
I have just purchased an 84 crossfire injection vette. Title and vin number match stating it is an L98. Havent checked the numbers on the block yet. But it is defintely not an L98 it is a L83. How does this happen. It appears all original.

Not sure what you mean when you say the vin and title says it is a L98. There is a letter/number in the vin that designates the motor but that would be it. Its highly doubtful that a mistake has lasted this many years and hasn't been caught by somebody.

Safety Car
There are some strange stories about unreliable CrossFires. I can't help but think that some of the problems aren't caused by mechanics that don't know what they're doing. Swaping to a carb is a huge step backwards! And not cheap! I've got 240,000 miles on my CFI, and the throttle bodies are still welded from the factory! Don't try to tell me that a carb would be an improvement! And my car runs good, too, after a few engine and manifold upgrades. But the CFI is stock!

The number on the vin and title are the same. It shows that it is an l98 TPI. but the motor in the car is an L83 crossfire. I have yet to check numbers on the block but it appears it is the engine that came in the car. So If it is original was wondering why it is an L83 but title has itas an L98.
