I told myself I would wait til I got my CJ7 project done before I got into my '85 C4 except to keep it rolling but the fever is really gettin to me. The CJ has fought me tooth and nail on just about everything I have done so I am fully versed in PITA projects. I like the C4 because like the Jeep most things are "readily accessable" by the way the hood opens. I know this is a misnomer but when you open the hood, everything is right there without body panels much getting in the way.

That being said, the first project is a 383 stroker because the L98 is starting to burn a quart of oil about every 5-700 miles or so. It still runs strong but is smoking the rear bumper up and is getting harder and harder to clean up. I have some body damage there and I want to repair it and dont want to have my new work damaged. I am still researching part combination and have talked with an engine rebuilder I have used in the past. He seems to think he can meet my budget on the build so he will probly get the work.

Next will be the tranny. Right now there isnt a problem with it but after reading tons of posts on it, I believe this is onky a matter of time in my 132K mile Sled. I currently have the DN 4+3 and am seriously looking into the direct replacement Keisler 5 speed. I need to know how many out there have done this swap and what you think of the end results. The numbers on the website look promising with additional underdrive and the fact it is a built Tremec. The price is right too considering what it might cost to rebuild the OD unit or the gearbox alone.

Thanks for reading my rambling and for any input on the Keisler tranny.

Sent a PM to LD85, he just did this swap. Or just use the search function.
