So much better....
I finally got the new u-joints in on friday, so today I hauled it over to my friends house to borrow his garage.
We did the following:
Oil change
New Fuel filter
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Racetronix Fuel pump wiring kit.
2 new u-joints for the passenger rear axle (along with new bolts and straps)
K&N filter
CAGS bypass
We started around 10, took about an hour break to get a bigger vise, oil and lunch. Finished up about 4:30. It runs great now. Axle clicking is gone, it revs much easier, and certainly pulls harder. Its a true joy to drive now. The U joints were a pain, but not overly hard.
I have also learned, never trust a previous owner, even if he is a mechanic. He said that the oil had just been changed, and he had put a new fuel pump in less than 1000 miles before. Bull****.
The oil didnt look bad, but it was quite a bit darker than I expected for 2000 miles. Also, there is no way that fuel pump was new, it didnt look it, the bolts holding it in the tank were in bad shape (I replaced them, he certainly would have if he had changed it).
Have a new airbox lid coming in on tuesday, so that should help. Also have a b&m shifter that we didnt have time to put in. And a set of Hawk HP Plus pads are in the parts bin as well, but the front brakes are fine, but until I wear the ones on it out, they will sit. Looking for a set of headers next, any recommendations?
