Security Light Stays On
Greetings C4'rs,
A friend of mine has a '93 convertible, and while she is driving it the security light stays on constantly. She asked me if I knew why it would do that, my reply of "Because it's broke." didn't go over too good.
Anyone had this happen to them on their C4 and know what the problem might be.
While she is driving? Haven't heard that one yet, but sitting still with key off and out would indicate a bad door switch.
Wouldn't hurt to check fuses also.

Thanks,
If I remember correctly, when starting the engine, there is a handshake (password exchange) between the ECM and the CCM computers. The CCM checks to see if the ignition key pellet is correct and then sends an encoded password to the ECM over an internal serial bus to unlock the fuel system, etc. If that password exchange is not valid, the security light is supposed to come on.
As a previous post suggests, is the VATS bypassed?
