Optima Battery, How to---
Ok Gents, On Friday I went and bought the Optima Battery. THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS. It was an easy installation.
10mm wrench and a Dremel were used.

That works! I think I'd rather take a hacksaw to the battery and saw off the top terminal though.

That will kill the three year warranty...

I'd just buy a battery that fit without having to cut anything.

The Optima I had in my Tahoe lasted way more than three years. I think they make one that is side terminal only, right?

There is a new side terminal only optima battery type 78 no more hassle with the top post.

I cut the tray for my Optima battery also. But in my 87 the top post did not have any clearance issues.
The problem I now have is that the battery is not held down by anything now since I cut the tray. The battery cant go anywhere since it is a tight space, but it fails tech. at autocross events. So now I have a chintzy bungee cord that appears to hold the battery down and now passes tech.
Does anybody have a better way to hold the Optima battery in place in a C4?
