My 92 coupe came with a set of Pirelli P Zero Neros on it. It really likes to follow ruts in the road and moves around a lot on the highway. The local Corvette guy thinks it's normal, but I'm not so sure. I know wide tires follow the road, but it would be nice to track truer. Anyone else had these on their C4 and noticed a difference in tracking and handling with other brands? Which was better?
Mine has done it with and without run-flats, Goodyears or Kumhos, it finds a rut and tries to stick to it like glue. The wider the tires, the worse it's going to be...
You can also check your alignment. I think the factory specifies 0 toe in the front. If you give it 1/16" of toe-in, or even 1/8", it will tend to want to stay straight. This at the cost of slightly increased tire wear, but nothing drastic as long as it's slight toe-in.
My car came with the 17x9.5's up front and yeah it followed all kinds of ruts. I just switched to C5 wagon wheels which are 8.5 fronts with 255 wide tires and it tracks much better. I thought I read somewhere on here that the tracking issue is why later vettes started coming with 17x8.5 wheels in the front.

Every vette I have been in with 9.5" rims an wide tires up front had this problem..I also switched to 8.5" in front with 245-45 17 tires and its 100% better. Only problem is you can't rotate but if it handles better, who cares..WW
I hadn't heard about narrower tires helping that much, but it might be something to think about. The front tires have less tread right now than the rear, I may have to buy some 8.5 chrome sawblades to match or all new wheels. Which will the wife go for?
Still would like to hear from someone with P Zero Nero experience. How do you like them compared to other tires?
How are your roads down there? I used to commute over a certain stretch of highway that would cause my my vette to tram (or wander) terribly. That stretch had HEAVY trucks that literally wore grooves in the lanes. My vette would jump surprisingly trying to change lanes.
Honestly I overpaid cause i was new to the game, but i got goodyear gs-d3 255 on front and despite popular opinion of running 275 rears i have 285 firestone firehawk. And dunno weather its due to the front or rear tires, I handle amazing in pouring rain. Dry pavement I handle fine and yes, even snow and ice. I only have one set of rims but if I had a set of summer tires i would probably choose Michelin pilot sport or PS2 if they make them in your size. From all the reviews they seem to be one of the best summer tires out there period. Hope this helps
