Hi guys, just wanted to toot my horn-got another Vette as a DD:
Traded my 06 GTO and got a great price. Was an awesome roadtrip home, 300 miles from Colorado Springs to Amarillo. 27.8mpg average on the way home.
It's a 2006 M6 3LT, Lemans Blue w 24,000 miles. Still trying to sort out all the bells and whistles. Whatever happended to the days of getting the keys to a new car and just driving it? THERE ARE NO KEYS!! Alot more comfortable than my 88 and more enjoyable for daily driving.
And to boot, $300 less per year on my insurance-go figure!
Now I have a 35th and a 53rd model, what a coinkeedink!
Now I'm unsure if I should put my 5 speed swap on the 88 on hold or just get the 700R4 rebuilt? I already have 3-4 times what it's worth into it.
Congrats on the new Vette
If you're gonna put a manual in the '88, get a 6 spd. The '89's were first with it and the '88's and 89's are virtually identical so should be an easy swap.
Thankx for all the kind replies. While the GTO was a great daily driver, the 06 shames it in seat comfort on the long trips. Can't wat to see what she'll do as far as mpg in daily city driving. GTO only got 14-16, depending on how I drove it. This was a good time to trade up, "for me". 06 also has more trunk space than the GTO, believe it or not. My 88 is not forgotten, however. I'm kinda stuck on doing the 5 spd, Keisler swap, based off of LD85's experience and others who converted to Keisler. Still plan to drive her as a weekend bruizer. On the bright side, I'm trying my darndest to stimulate the economy!!!
