This is my first C4 Corvette, it is a 95 Pace Car and while putting on the license plate today I could feel the build sheet on the top right rear side of the gas tank. My question is, how do you get it out without damaging it? I would like to make a copy of it and maybe just put it back.
Pretty hard to get it out with damaging it. I think a few have done it though.
I'd just order a copy of it from the museum, and get a copy of the windows sticker at the same time.

IIRC, they were placed in the front crossmember just in front of the motor. They were rolled up and inserted prior to the motor install. There are some small holes in that crossmember where the sheet can be removed but it's a difficult task. The sheet has to be grabbed by an edge and you have to roll it up as it gets removed.
As the paper ages and is subject to heat and moisture, the paper will be pretty brittle. Much easier to get the copies from the NCM.

Later C4s don't have the one in the cross-member, at least I've never found one that does (my '90 and '96 included).
The build sheet is held in place by the gas tank strap. No way to get it out of there without ripping it unless you loosen the strap. Unfortunately the strap likes to twist as you try to loosen the nut that secures it and the nut is usually frozen in place.
This pic of mine should help you understand what you're facing...

My '92 vert had one in the front crossmember. I could just see a corner of the page with some printing through a hole. Could be that only a few cars happened to get them pushed in there by a worker as the car went by a station and were not tossed away??
IIRC, there were a number of different "build sheets" printed based on the work being done along the line. Maybe it was something from that point on the line where the frame was welded together and before the engine and driveline install or marriage.
