Welcome Sarge! Great forum for all your Vette needs/wants.
And remember ....don't be afraid to hit it! These were made for speed
A humble thank you for your service
First Welcome my friend ! First off you already messed up cause you admitted you know your way around tools !
Now some Idiot , [ me and a thousand more ] will badger you into headers , a hot cam and 1.6 roller rockers you can imagine !
I have two 95's 1 stock and 1 built Hot Rod .
I love the stock one cause I can go anywhere and it's never had a wrench on it except for I put a new radiator in it .
The Hot Rod and mine is mild compared to most of them here is a 450 HP LT 4 383 w goodies from front to the Dana 44 w 373 gear out back.
You will enjoy your 95 I'm sure !
Just ask on here and you will get any help you need but w/95's it's usually Radio/ ant. or A/C control that goes first.
Get a good cover if you can't keep it inside.
Wolf covers are about a $100 bucks and work really well.
I got one 2 1/2 years old which has seen quite a bit of outside time w/two vettes.
First and foremost .. Thank you kindly for your service to our country.
Secondly.. The Air Force is by the far best service. Ex AF here too (O-3).
Lastly, welcome aboard both the Forums and the Corvette world.
Some advice from an old man (54). I own an 87 and am keeping it pretty much stock. But I would avoid too many changes, maybe rims, tires or IPOD or something at the most. See how often and what you really want to do with your car. Will you Auto Cross, Just use it to tour, be a DD (daily driver), or whatever. Once you decide that, then I would consider some other Modifications. The Corvette off the factory is an impressive machine. Also, if you can, join a local corvette, and get involved with them. You will find a wealth of fun and information .
But no matter what, it is your Vette and have fun in it.
Been to Nellis loads of times I'm a Loadmaster on C-17s. I'm at Altus right now but plan on taking lots of road trips in my 87 vette that I got in July. I also am a front drive convert. I raced my Saturn in autocross and drag racing best of 15.87, maybe we'll cruise the strip some time.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I know my wallet is going to be hurting already because as i keep reading post i keep getting more and more ideas. But first will be new wheels and tires. i have to say the atmosphere around here is awsome. Most everyone seems laid back and eager to help one another. Also i have only had the vette for 3 weeks now but i love driving her. I keep neglecting my jeep. She hasnt been driven since i got the vette. But thiers something about the vette. You actually feel like your driving her its not just get in and go to point a or piont B. Its hard to describe. When i drive my jeep the steering is to easy and the brakes are efforstless. I get in the vette and it takes some effort to drive her but its rewarding at the same time.
larryoo its funny you say that its either the ac control or the power antenna to go out cuz my power antenna went out. But i already found a replacment at zip.com
Thanks for the advice everyone. Im learning more and more everyday.
Also Thank you for all the thanks and appreciation. means alot.
