Default 94 Remote Door Lock problem

The remote door lock control needs repair- I am referring to the controller with the buttons that you put on your key ring .The plastic latch on it is broken, so it will not stay closed, & it doesn't work. Does anybody know the best way to deal with this?

Buy a new or used replacement remote. The correct term for the part your talking about is the PKE fob or Passive Keyless Entry FOB. Post what your looking for in the for sale section of this forum, the going rate is about the $70 range used if in excellent condition and about $100 or so new on the Bay. The later fobs that the 95s and 96 used are better as they had two screws on the back side to keep the two halves together. The remotes are coupe and vert specific, One less button for the vert as no rear hatch. You will need to program it for your car. Good luck

Yeah my pop did too until I reminded him he drove a Corvette and not a Yugo. I found him a replacement and bought him a set of FSMs so he could reprogram it himself. During this process I found that the Later C4s had the improved screw back design which helps to keep the halves together but it does not resolve the plastic key ring portion of the Fob.

Instructions for programming it are in the owners manual.

Default Remote FOB temp repair

Used black electric tape to keep remote key FOB together. Has been working for several months.
