Default Engine Washing??

Considering the "Opti", how do you wash your engine? While changing the wires on my '94, I notice the engine/frame had a considerable amount of grease & oil build-up over the years. I've washed the engine in the past at the local car wash, but after the wire ordeal, I'm a little bit paranoid. Thanks

I used a gas powered power washer on mine after soaking everything with foaming engine degreaser.
I did it at home incase there were problems, but it just started right up afterward

He got lucky. I clean my LT1 with a damp cloth and cleaner. Nothing is worth the risk of taking out the Opti (unless you have money to burn).

Looks like he has an '89 so no Opti.

If you really want to clean the front of the engine, and do plug wires, it's easiest to remove the accessories from the front of the motor and use straight Simple Green in a spray bottle and some small brushes. The fill another squirt bottle with water to rinse everything off.

No hoses, no pressure washer and the Opti will keep on working.

I just spay everything down with a good degreaser, wait 5 minutes and hose it off. Never had any trouble with this method. My car does not have the Opti.
