Default Third Brake Light Not Working

The third brake light is out on my 1995 coupe. I assume the bulb is burned out and needs to be replaced. Can someone explain to me how to do this? Do I need to go up through the opening above the license plate? Thanks in advance.

Pull the license plate and frame. Then fish your hand up inside the rear body. Its a tight and painful fit. Fill your heart during the process with some choice curse words with the engineer who came up with the GFI to do it this way. Have fun GC

It could also be the switch at the brake petal. The brake stop lights are on the one side of the switch and the third stop light goes through the other. Not to bad to replace.

Valid point and could be a part of the problem as well. Id replace the bulb anyway for GP as the blub has been buring on that 95 probably for a while.

The wire at the switch for the 3rd brake light is light blue. You can disconnect that wire and apply 12v to it to test the bulb. Grounds can be a problem sometime too.
