Default A few problems

Well my 1988 Auto Corvette has had some problems lately.

#1. When the engine is cold and you go to start it up, it's stalls if you dont keep your foot on the throttle for a second. I usually keep it around ~1000 rpm's for a few secs then let it settle to idle. If you just crank it over it will stall. After it does this, it usually throws a CEL, and if you go over 1/4- 1/2 throttle it bogs and the revs stay still.

When the engine gets warm, if you shut the car off for 5min, then turn it back on, the CEL is gone and it runs awesome

#2. I was driving down the a somewhat large hill a few days ago, just letting it cruise down, no throttle. Slow for a stop sign, go to press the gas and the engine shuts off. Start it back up, drive some more down another hill, and at the bottom i go to accelerate again and the revs don't move, car doesn't accelerate, but this time the engine stays on.

I took it to my mechanic and he thinks it's the MAF. I was qouted 500 installed for a re manufactured NAPA one, NAPA wants 250 just for the part.

How hard is one to install, just plug and play? or is it worth getting one installed. I'd like to do as much as possible, because I'm sort of "learning" how to wrench with this car.

Also, you guys have any idea of other causes for this to happen?

There's not much easier than changing the MAF. One plug, take it out of the 2 rubber hoses, reverse, and done.

Plug and play.
